Venture Catalysts, a seed investment platform, has secured $500,000 from Zaffiro Ventures, which would help the 6-month-old Mumbai-based company to expand its services to five new cities, including tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Founded in January this year, by Dr Apoorv Ranjan Sharma, Anil Jain, Anuj Golecha, and Gaurav Jain, the company invests $100K – $250K in early stage IoT, AI, Ad Tech, Virtual Reality, Education, E-Commerce and Retail based startups. So far the company has invested in over 7 such ventures.
As part of the association with Zaffiro Ventures, Venture Catalysts hopes to also add 100 new angels in the next few months, to its existing list of 600 angels.
Speaking on the investment, Revathi Roy, Co-founder, Zaffiro Ventures, said, "After interacting with VCats founders, we learnt how building a robust, end-to-end ecosystem to support and nurture new-age tech businesses can help raise the innovation quotient of the country. With the company already creating major disruption in the way start-up investment and support in the country is approached, it made more sense to integrate with their effort instead of reinventing the wheel by creating a completely new platform."
