So Snapdeal is now everything to everybody (well almost).
Apart from being the regular ecommerce store, you can now even buy bus tickets / avail personal services etc etc on the Snapdeal app. That is, Snapdeal app is now turning into a meta aggregator app that brings every other app/services on the platform.
As the company explains:
We love competition: And in order to beat it, we are constantly trying to bring everything under the sun (that money can buy) on our app. So whether you are an avid shopper or a discretionary spender, we are here
to delight you.
And the payment of these services are mostly driven by Freecharge wallet.
Couple of qns :
1. Is this a smart move ? Given how aggressive Amazon is in India and how everyone else is facing the heat, this could just badly hurt Snapdeal's USP.
After all, when you are buying services from Snapdeal app - you will held the company responsible for it (this will start to show up in Snapdeal's app ratings).
Snapdeal hasn't been known for exceptional services - so bringing others (who are also not known for exceptional services) is a huge risk on the brand and customer loyalty.
The one thing that Amazon stands for is the BIG F word. That is F.ocus.
Race for #GMV? By the way VSS says it's a dumb thing to do (well, almost) !
Build a bigger and better opportunity for Freecharge payments ? You need more transacting customers / more utility service to drive Freecharge's growth (given how Paytm is growing).
What are your thoughts? Is Freecharge the NextBigWhat for Snapdeal ?
- Brilliant Move by Snapdeal!
- They are clueless (Racing for GMV)
