Flipkart : Back when i started using Flipkart in 2010, the start-up buzz in India was beginning to take shape. So, how did i discover Flipkart? Well, i remember viewing a number of banner ads on various websites which led to me click on them and finally i became one of their customer. So much so that i ordered a book every other week. Why wouldn't I order? They were offering free delivery on a book worth Rs. 100.
Tzinga : Tzinga, the product by Hector Beverages, was advertised in colleges. I remember a truck with Tzinga branding heading to my college and offering free Tzinga for over a week. I got back and Googled them to find out that even they were a start-up trying to get into the energy drink market. Their FB page was active with multiple contests etc. Well, now they have a better product in the name of Paper Boat!
Pluggd.in : In 2011, when i was fascinated by the start-up world and wanted to read about many of those start-ups which have made it big. I used to use Google as a medium to search for "Start-Up News". Well, i found a link to pluggd.in and a few more websites to which i stuck. And, since then i have been an avid follower. Pluggd.in had a very interesting discussion forum back then and i do remember being one of the top commentors.
Note: I found out about a lot of start-ups using platforms like NextBigWhat.
So, for a world where Google is the answer to all the questions. How will so many start-ups find a way to reach the top of the search results?
