Walmart is testing a program that sends store employees to deliver online orders at the end of their shifts.
Workers can opt in to earn extra money by making deliveries using their own cars. They’re assigned packages based on where they live so the route aligns with their commute home.
Not only can this cut shipping costs and get packages to their final destinations faster and more efficiently, it creates a special win-win-win for customers, associates and the business (blog).
Why Only WalMart can do this?
Walmart has strength in numbers with 4,700 stores across the U.S. and more than a million associates. The stores are within 10 miles of 90% of the U.S. population.
In general, why can't this be replicated in India? We do anything to earn 'that extra' money - so why not this?
