Google Launches Website To Showcase Experimental Android Apps

The 20 initial experiments listed on the site range from creative work–from camera experiments to Android Wear watch faces. Google says the apps were built using Android SDK and NDK, Android Wear, the IOIO board, Cinder, Processing, OpenFrameworks and Unity. Govt Slaps Telcos With Rs 10.8cr Penalty For Cell Towers Exceeding Radiation Limits

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed the Rajya Sabha of the same on Friday. Airtel has been fined Rs. 2.15, Vodafone Rs 1.8 cr, Reliance 1.65 cr and Tata Teleservices Rs 1.45 cr. Idea, Aircel, Loop, MTNL, Sistema Shyam, Uninor and Videocon have also been fined. As off May 31, 2015 there were 9,08,353 base tower stations in India, and 6 of them were exceeding prescribed radiation limits.

One MMS And Superhack ‘Stagefright’ Could Infect 95% Of Android Devices

Experts have found a vulnerability in Android OS which could see 95% of devices compromised through an MMS. The hack, known as Stagefright, allows hackers to rewrite code for your phone remotely when you open their media file. The team researching it has passed Google the fixes but their implementation device side is dependent on manufacturers and phone services.

Google Announces Android Pay To Take On Apple In Mobile Payments

Google says 70,000 merchant locations and 1,000 apps will support Android Pay by the time it launches later this year. The new feature rolled out by Google requires users to update the Google app on their Android device and turn on notifications via Google Now. Once this is done, users can simply type, “send a note to my phone” or “send directions to my phone” into the search bar, which will open up a small card that lets you type in the note, or specify directions. This data is then sent to the users’ smartphone as a notification. The functionality isn’t just limited to notes and directions, with users being able to set reminders, alarms and find the location of their phone directly from the search bar on their PC.
