Local handset manufacturer, Ringing Bells is set to launch a a phone called the Freedom 251 that will be priced at only Rs 500. The Noida based company was launched last year and has already launched an LTE-enabled handset that retails for Rs 2,999. The specifications of the smartphone, has not been disclosed.
BlackBerry’s PRIV comes in a dual-curved screen with 18MP camera. It comes with a 5.4-inch dual-curve OLED display. This Blackberry device lets users to choose between a virtual keyboard or a physical keyboard. PRIV is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and provides 32 GB of onboard storage.
The metal uni-body is sturdy and made with Aircraft grade aluminum. The smartphone weighs 169g and is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and blue glass infrared filter and ISOCELL. With focusing technologies like PDAF, ball bearing VCM, Closed Loop, the camera focuses in 0.09 second.
K9 Smart with multilingual keypad supports 21 languages. It lets users to navigate the device in upto 12 Indian languages. The phone comes with 12.4 cm screen, 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 2300 mAh Li-ion battery. The 3G smartphone is packed with an internal memory of 8GB which is expandable to 32 GB.
A recent report compiled by Counterpoint Media research reveals that Indian smartphone shipment grew by 20% annually and 12% sequentially in Q3 2015 (July- Sept). This means that on in three mobile phones shipped in India is a smartphone.
Growth is expected to be down from 27.5% in 2014. China is at the focal point of this slowdown as the market matures and smartphone sales drop. However, falling prices and high-growth markets such as India will ensure that smartphone sales reach 1.9 billion units by 2019.
