Tamil Nadu unveils EV policy eying 50K crore investment and faster EV adoption

The new EV policy announced by Tamil Nadu state govt comes with recommendations like 100% road tax exemption, zero permit fees, registration charges waiver, etc. to boost EV adoption in the state. 

The draft also encourages public and commercial vehicles to convert to EVs. It proposes exemption of electricity tax and 15% subsidy land acquisition for Factories setting up EV components and charging infrastructure. State Transport Undertaking will introduce 1000 electric buses every year and 5% of buses with ICE will be replaced by battery-operated buses.

This policy aims to attract investment of over Rs. 50,000 crores and 1.5 lakh new jobs in the state.
