Tata Opportunities Fund (TOF), a private equity fund advised by Tata Capital has invested in Uber. While the numbers aren’t confirmed, some of the reports mention it as ‘close to $100mn’

What’s interesting about this investment is that Ratan Tata has made a personal investment in Ola in July of this year.

The funding will be used to globally invest across all markets and to experiment with new innovations. TOF will not be taking a board seat in Uber.

Uber plans to invest $1Bn in India and is also learning to do business in India, the desi style. That is, the company has started to accept cash in some of the regions (Delhi/Hyderabad/Chennai).
