For those awaiting Tesla’s arrival in India, Elon Musk has reportedly said in an interaction with students from IIT Madras that the company may be arriving in the country in 2020.
The interaction took place as part of the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019, in which the Avishkar Hyperloop team from IIT Madras was a participant.
News and rumours of the company’s India dream have been floating around for a few years now and Musk himself has alluded to it in the past.
In March of this year, Musk tweeted: “Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next! India”.
He has also tweeted that while the company would ‘love’ to be in India, the government regulations are ‘challenging’. Tesla was widely expected to enter the Indian market with the Model 3 that sells for close to $35,000.
