A few weeks ago Elon Musk teased the launch of a new product from Tesla, which wasn’t an automobile, and would be revealed at the Hawthorne Design Studio on April 30.

Now, Bloomberg reports that the company has sort of spoilt the surprise by sending an email to investors mentioning that it will launch a home battery, and a very large utility scale battery.
Details about the forthcoming products are all but lacking, but industry watchers are expecting the devices to be built on technology used by most home batteries.
The move is in line with Musk’s announcement of launching batteries for home and business users fairly soon at an earnings call back in February.
The real questions however are, can Tesla disrupt the home and business power backup markets just as it did with the Model S, and what price bracket will the new devices sit in?
