What is the method for creative folk to develop great ideas? Adam Grant, an organizational psychologist, spoke at TED on just this topic, addressing how ‘originals’ – thinkers who come up with new ideas and are able to implement them – go about their business.
He lists 3 main habits of originals that he has arrived at by studying them:
Originals are late to the party.
Originals are full of fear and doubt.
Orginals embrace failure.
You don’t have to be first to be the best.
On the surface, a lot of original people look confident, but behind the scenes they feel the same fear and doubt that we do.
Originals know that the biggest regrets are not actions, but inactions.
