Storytelling necessitates paying close attention to the details of life. It necessitates the development of a “morally thick” vocabulary that highlights the nuance in our intentions. We need more expressive language to capture our situations and our responses to them, rather than thinking about our decisions in simple terms like “right,” “permissible,” or “inexcusable.”
