Thrillophilia, an online experiential travel marketplace, has bagged angel funding of $ 200,000 in a round led by Hyderabad Angels. iLabs Venture Capital Fund, Navlok Ventures and Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (IIM A) have also participated in the round.
Abhishek Daga, Co-founder, Thrillophilia said, “We plan to invest money mainly on the curation side of these local vendors.” Currently, the company has an 11 member team involved in curation of travel products which includes a lot of physical verification.
Their 5 member outdoor team travels and experiences the offerings and does all the necessary checks on the local vendors. The Bangalore headquartered startup has over 400 activity-based tours and more than 1,000 off-beat travel experiences listed on the portal.
Experiential and activity based travelling is on the rise in India with a number of Indian startups offering tourists and users options to explore various activities. Delhi based iExperience, Mumbai based Tushky and a few others operate in the same space.
Besides this, the money will be invested in technology, digital marketing and expansion, said Daga.
Founded in 2009, Thrillophilia is present in 72 cities and has served more than 50,000 travelers and has over 500 corporate clients.The startup plans to include 6,000 experiences by December and serve one lakh experience hours a month towards the end of 2014.
