Gawbl an Android based app which suggests food based on the user’s mood has been acqu(h)ired by TimesCity, a venture by Times Internet Limited (TIL)*. The deal size was not disclosed.
TimesCity is a location based web service, also present on mobile (Android, iOS, BlackBerry), which lists movies, restaurants, pubs and real time events. The application is currently present in 11 cities including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Chennai and Pune.
Post acquisition, Gawbl will merge with TimesCity and will not work anymore as an individual application. Chiragh Kirpalani, the founder of Gawbl, will join Timescity.
Pune based Gawbl which debuted in beta in April, helps users discover places to eat based on their mood at that given time. Currently, it segregates eateries across five categories or moods like Quick bite, Hog, Experiment, Fine Dine and Chill.
At present, it works only in Pune. Back in April when we reviewed the app, it had 300 downloads and was planning to launch an ios app before expanding to other cities by the year end.
