Mumbai’s location based food ordering platform, TinyOwl has raised $3 million led by Sequoia and Nexus Venture Partners. The company will use these funds to deepen its presence in Mumbai and expand into other metros.
Founded in March 2014 by five IIT Bombay alumni, the TinyOwl app is available on Android and iOS platforms and allows users to order food from restaurants and have it delivered at their doorstep.
The TinyOwl funding was actually done 6 months back and TinyOwl claims to have more than 3500 delivery restaurants in Mumbai (<50,000 installs on Play store).
A #FoodTech meets Hyperlocal story – which is the new trend among investors. What’s interesting is that Sequoia has also invested in Zomato which plans to enter into payment space.
