At the end of 2013, Facebook has taken it upon itself to look back at the year gone by with its ‘2013 Year In Review’. Facebook has collected data and taken a look at the top trending topics, people and most “checked-in” places of the year 2013 both in India and globally.
According to data collected, Narendra Modi was the most talked about topic, followed by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The list also included RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and India’s Mars orbiter mission, Mangalyaan. Globally, Pope Francis was the most talked about out of ten other topics which included the Royal Baby, the harlem shake, typhoons and floods.
The most significant life event to people across the world was their relationship status, followed by traveling to a new place. When it came to check-ins, the highest number of check-ins on Facebook from India was at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
The data has been collected by Facebook on both a global and at a country level using data generated by areas and topics which have the most check-ins, most mentions in a post among others.
The company has also added a “Your Year in Review” option for users to share their best moments of the year with friends and family.
