Nagpur based Touristlink, a social marketplace which matches travelers with local travel service providers has raised seed funding from Africa based accelerator 88mph.ac and a group of private investors.
The funds will be used to develop the site and establish its presence in African market to sell these product to Indian travelers.
The team is looking to organize the fragment Safari market with the platform, where customers can see reviews and interact directly with providers.
Touristlink has clocked sales worth $96,000 in June 2013 from $25,000 in January by working with tour operators, mostly based in India. Over 950 tours and activities have been listed on the site.
88mph.ac, is a Kenya based accelerator modeled after Y Combinator. The acclerator, has a 90 day program and provides startups with up to $100,000 in exchange of equity.
The startup is likely to have competition from large tour operators as well as startups such as SafariDesk, an African startup, which provides offbeat experiences and luxury travel backed by Kenya’s Savannah Fund.
