Traffic Violations Fine Increased : Drunken Driving Will Now Attract Rs. 10,000 Fine

In a bid to bring some discipline to unruly Indian roads, the Union Cabinet has approved a bill proposing steep fine for violation of traffic rules.

The minimum fine for riding without helmet, which is just Rs 100, has been raised to Rs 1000, along with disqualification of license for 3 months.

Under the new provisions approved by the Cabinet, drunk-driving will now attract Rs 10,000 fine.
