TravelKhana.com, the New Delhi based food delivery service for travellers on Indian Railways, has raised funding of an undisclosed amount from Palaash Ventures and group of investors including Axind Software CEO Matteo Chiampo, according to a recent report.
TravelKhana.com operates as a meal booking service that connects train travellers with restaurants on the Indian Railways network and enables train travelers to easily place orders via website, phone, SMS, or mobile app.
Travellers can choose from a choice of food items provided by selected restaurants on the Indian Railway Network.
The service keeps track of the train running information and ensures meal delivery on time. The company has built an order-to-fulfilment products called ‘Oyatri’, to help them solve the complex logistical problem of delivering food to a moving train, which stops at the stations for a limited time.
The company was founded in 2012 by Pushpinder Singh, who earlier was V.P Technology and acting CTO for INCA Informatics.
Nasik based MeraFoodChoice (MFC) is another startup that provides a similar service, that helps Indian Railways commuters to order local vegetarian food from across nearly 75 stations on the railway network.
