Funds will be used to scale content and the platform itself.
Currently TripHobo over 25000 user generated itineraries and curated content for close to 200 top tourist cities worldwide. TripHobo was founded in 2012 by three Marketing MBAs – Praveen Kumar from IIM Lucknow, Karthik Ramachandra, from IIM Indore and Saket Newaskar from MDI, Gurgaon.
The company had raised seed investment from a private investor in 2012.
TripHobo started as JoGuru, an interactive travel itinerary planning website. On the platform, people can come and check out itineraries created by others, create their own etc. The site clocks about 1.5 mn unique visitors a month.
In the month of June, about 4,000 itineraries were created on TripHobo, Praveen told NextBigWhat. Nearly 70% of the website’s traffic comes from the US & UK.
While the team hasn’t been monetizing the service yet, there are plans to include recommendations and such to make money.
