Twitter’s Road to Monetization (?) – Multiple Contributors in an account

Twitter is a typical Silicon Valley story – great product, great traction, but quite clueless about monetization (so far). Today, Twitter has announced a feature (still in beta) that will enable organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account.

The feature appends the contributor’s username to the tweet byline, making the business to consumer communication more personal.

The beta will be released to a limited subset of folks for some time so that we can get an idea of how the features work from a system perspective. After we kick the tires a bit, we’ll do a full launch to all business users and ecosystem partners.[from twitter blog]

If you look at any corporate blog, they all have multiple contributors – so why not twitter, which is equally (or more?) powerful than other social media tools.

One would assume that a feature like this will be of premium nature and brands would love to pay for this (or maybe a freemium model, based on user cap)?

What’s your opinion?
