Twitter to Shut Down Bangalore Development Centre, Lay Off 20 Employees

The social media site has decided to discontinue engineering work at one of its development centres in Bangalore, a move that will lead to layoffs of at least 20 employees. The affected employees are part of ZipDial, the mobile communications startup the company had acquired for around $35 million last year.

Twitter did not disclose the exact reason for shutting down the centre, however, said that the company remained “committed to India as a strategic market and would continue to maintain a presence in the city.”
