Twitter has entered the race to win the digital rights for Indian Premier League, joining the league of other heavyweights like ESPN, Amazon India, Sony Pictures Networks India wanting to grab the mega sporting tender.
Currently, the Micro-blogging social network has partnered with US-based National Football League to stream the ongoing season of the game on tnf.twitter.com, where people can watch and tweet about the game concurrently.
According to Twitter, there were over 10.6 million tweets related to the IPL in 2016, which is an increase of 56% from last year. The company wants to leverage this fan base on its platform.
