Uber Features ‘Code On The Road’: An In-App Recruitment Test For Developers During An Uber Ride

The Uber app offers a 'code on the road' challenge- a notification on the screen, and if users accept the test, Uber challenges the ride with three coding problems to solve, each with a 60-second countdown, and scores them based on their answers. If someone passes all, then the app prompts the coder to click a button to reach out and get in touch.

Taxi hailing service Uber now has adopted some weird way of attracting engineers to work for the fast-growing startup by testing their coding skills during an Uber ride.

Uber has confirmed that they were not using any individuals information for the notifications, but are just identifying geographies where tech jobs are concentrated to find candidates.

“The option to play gives interested riders the opportunity to show us their skills in a fun and different way – whether they code on the side or are pursuing a career as a developer.” Uber commented on the new feature.
