Chennai-based Uniphore Software Systems has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from The Indian Angel Network. The round was led by IAN members Nagaraja Prakasam and MV.Subramanian along with Ray Stata and YourNest Angel Fund.

The funding will be used to expand Uniphore’s global presence, by foraying into other non-English speaking regions such as South East Asia and the Middle East.

The company, founded in 2008 by Umesh Sachdev and Ravi Saraogi, says that its technology supports nearly 2 million registered users every month.

The IIT-M incubated company builds voice based services for mobile subscribers to enable information access and transactions in local languages.
