Viber Has 40 million Users In India, Making India Its Biggest Market Globally
Messaging and calling app, Viber claims to have 40 million users in India making India its biggest market globally.
“We have crossed 40 million* registered users, and India is now our biggest market. It’s a key milestone for us and this is a clear sign of the surging popularity of the platform,” Viber India Country Head Anubhav Nayyar told PTI.
This is an impressive growth given that Viber had 13 million users in December 2013. Given the competition in voice and video space, it’ll be interesting to see how Viber grows in the next few months.
* Viber hasn’t shared the active userbase count.

Agree – but Indian users will do ‘anything’ for free 🙂 so am guessing that they have a decent traction as they were one of the early movers.

Active user base + Frequency of usage is what really matters. It will take couple of years as most of indian users are on 2G & this is like network/habbit changing effect, unlike Text/WhatsApp which sucks less bandwidth than voice call.
