Vodafone has essentially halved all data charges for prepaid customers in Mumbai, possibly a retort to Airtel’s commercial launch of its 4G data services.
The company has rolled out a “Double Data” offer giving users twice the amount of data based on the pack they choose.
Vodafone says the offer is valid on all prepaid data pack recharges in Mumbai starting from the first week of August.
The move seems to be an answer to Airtel offering 4G data services at 3G rates. Vodafone’s service becomes a great option for heavy data users given that majority of older devices don’t support 4G.
Further, Vodafone has announced that it will roll out 4G data services by the end of the year across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala. Currently the company is running 4G trials in all 5 circles.
