Vodafone India has launched Vodafone Developer Platform for app developers and content service providers, both local and international, to connect with Vodafone in order to offer operator billing.
This will allow developers to enable customers of Vodafone India to purchase apps or services and content through their Vodafone account.
The Vodafone Developer Platform will give developers access to network resources like subscriber profile, billing, location, messaging, through API access.
The platform will also help developers test their apps and services in a simulated environment.
Developers will have to accept a standard set of terms and conditions govern the commercial and others aspects of the developers relationship with Vodafone India, to enroll for the platform.
Vodafone customers in the country will now have access to a range of applications with the built in operator billing.
Earlier in September last year, Estonia based mobile payment provider Fortumo had launched its direct carrier billing service in India with support for subscribers of Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and Tata Docomo.
Last month Vodafone India launched Vodafone Music, a streaming service for its subscribers, in partnership with Hungama Digital.
