In a first of its kind move, the Ministry of Textiles has signed a MoU with #flipkart India to provide platform and market intelligence to rural weavers. This is intended at boosting the handloom sector, to empower the weavers and to boost manufacturing in rural India.
Through this exclusive agreement, Flipkart will provide weavers with an online marketing platform, infrastructural support in data analytics and customer acquisition to help them get remunerative prices for their products and scale up their business.
This partnership will connect the artisans directly to the buyer and with its large customer base, Flipkart will be able to assist entrepreneurs and rural artisans in deciding on the right selling price, payment automation, logistics and brand building. Through providing data analysis, artisans can get a better sense on focusing on saleable products and thus plan their production and inventory.
With NaMo government going ahead with Digital India to empower every citizen of the country and now with the Ministry’s decision to work in collaboration with private ecommerce sector, the government sure has big plans for the country.
Flipkart, on the other hand, has had bitter experience recently with the Enforcement Directorate hovering over its financials.
