Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat receive exemption from selection trials for Asian Games

Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, World Championship medallists, have been exempted from competing in the selection trials for the Asian Games.

The trials will be held in six weight categories, including Bajrang's (65kg) and Vinesh's (53kg), but winners in these categories will be named as reserves.

As per WFI Regulations, 'iconic players' who have medalled at Olympics/World Championship are eligible for an exemption from trials, but Ravi Dahiya, an Olympic silver medallist, was not exempted due to recent injuries.
