Budget 2023: Government to set up 157 nursing colleges

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said during the presentation of the Union Budget that the government will create 157 new nursing institutions.

“157 new nursing colleges will be established in co-locations with the existing 157 medical colleges established since 2014,” she announced.

"Facilities in select Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) labs will be made available for research by public and private medical colleges."

Previously, the Union Budget 2022-23 allocated INR 86,200 cr to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
