Contractor Suicide Case: Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa To Resign

Karnataka Cabinet Minister KS Eshwarappa announced his resignation today (April 14, 2022) amid a row over the suicide of a contractor.

The minister said, "Tomorrow I'm handing over the resignation letter to the Chief Minister."

He was caught in a huge controversy following allegations of corruption and a role in the suicide of a contractor.

Contractor Santhosh Patil, who made the corruption allegations against him, was found dead in a hotel room.

The declaration of resignation came hours after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai confirmed that there was no pressure from the party.

However, the BJP high command had given clear cut directions that Eshwarappa must quit to save the party's anti-corruption image.
