Elon Musk is TIME's 2021 Person of the Year

Time magazine named Tesla CEO Elon Musk as its Person of the Year for 2021, describing him as a "clown, genius, edgelord, visionary, industrialist, showman."

Mr. Musk, CEO of SpaceX, recently passed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as the world’s wealthiest person as the Tesla's growing value pushed his net worth to around $300 billion

Time cited the breadth of Mr. Musk's endeavors, from SpaceX to his hand in the creation of the alternative energy company SolarCity in addition to Tesla.

Magazine underlines that its annual honour is not a reward, but rather "recognition of the person who had the most influence on the events of the year "

“With a flick of his finger, the stock market soars or swoons. An army of devotees hangs on his every utterance " according to the magazine

He gives outrageous assistance to the world in front of his 66 million Twitter followers, and roils markets driving even his own followers and investors insane.

Tesla’s market value alone soared to more than $1 trillion this year, making him world’s richest man

The magazine also acknowledges his efforts for space missions and making cars that doesn’t require drivers

The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Edward Felsenthal, said "Elon Musk is TIME’s 2021 Person of the Year for driving society’s most daring and disruptive transformations"
