Google Pay has started rolling out the UPI Lite feature in India, which was launched by the Reserve Bank of India and designed by the National Payments Corporation of India.
The feature allows for quick payments of up to ₹200 without requiring a PIN.
UPI Lite does not depend on real-time core banking systems of the issuing bank and promises higher success rates during peak transaction hours.
Users can load up to ₹2,000 twice a day and make payment of up to ₹200 at a time.
Though other platforms like Paytm and PhonePe already have this feature, currently, 15 banks support UPI Lite.
To activate UPI Lite, users need to find the feature in their profile and link their bank account, after which they receive a confirmation message.
