Google releases chatbot Bard to take on rival ChatGPT

Bard is reportedly created to compete with the widely used ChatGPT technology, which is supported by Microsoft.

Bard was announced less than two weeks after Microsoft revealed it was investing enormous sums of money in OpenAI.

Sundar Pichai said, “Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models."

"Google still largely lives off the fact their search engine is the most widely used," he added.

Google's Bard is based on LaMDA, the firm's Language Model for Dialogue Applications system.
