Henry Cavill is not returning as Superman

James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has revealed he is penning a new Superman movie.

Gunn has also disclosed that Henry Cavill won't be playing the hero again in keeping with the new project.

Gunn, Peter Safran and Cavill met to find something in the DC universe for Cavill to tackle.

In a statement, Cavill stated that he would not be taking on the Superman role again.

“It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman," Cavill wrote.
