The National Anthem of India ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written by nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and it follows the writing style of high Bengali Sanskrit
The song was first sung on December 27, 1911 in the Calcutta Session of Indian National Congress.
It was translated into Hindi by Abid Ali.
On january 24, 1950, it was officially recognized as the Indian National Anthem.
The Indian National Anthem is representative of the unity in diversity that exists in the country.
The Supreme Court's order on November 30 made it compulsory for cinema halls across the country to play the national anthem before every movie screening
It also made it compulsory for everyone present, to stand and pay respect to the anthem. It however, clarified on December 9, 2016 that the disabled need not stand up for the anthem.
