Kerala Bus Strike: Private Bus Operators to Go off Roads From Today

Private buses in Kerala have announced an indefinite strike from Thursday in protest against the indifference of the state government towards the organisation's demand.

They call for the government's attention for allowing them to hike the fare of buses.

The state government had cited several excuses when the bus operators repeatedly raised the fare hike demand in view of the fuel price rise.

Kerala minister Antony Raju appealed the private bus operators not to go on a strike at this point, but no avail.

The minister said the private bus operators should not think that they could put the government under pressure by going on a strike.

If the private bus operators go on strike, KSRTC would run more services to meet the travel needs of public, Antony added.
