National Constitution Day: Know the importance of the day

The Indian Constitution, which went into effect on January 26, 1950, was adopted on this day 73 years ago.

The day has been recognized as Constitution Day, or "Samvidhan Diwas," since 2015.

The Constituent Assembly took two years, 11 months and 17 days to draft the Constitution for Independent India.

It had 11 meetings totaling 165 days during this time, and its participants submitted about 7,600 amendments to the draft Constitution.

Dr BR Ambedkar, was the Constitution’s chief architect.
