 P.K. Rosy: Google Doodle honours the first female lead in Malayalam cinema

The Google Doodle for today celebrates PK Rosy, the first female lead in Malayalam film.

Rajamma Rosy was born in Thiruvananthapuram, formerly known as Trivandrum, on February 10th, 1903.

Members of a group were reportedly incensed to see a Dalit woman depict them in the film when it was released.

With her performance in the Malayalam movie Vigathakumaran, Rosy broke down social barriers at a time when performing arts were discouraged.
