Pokémon GO launched in Hindi in India

The Pokémon Co. and Niantic Inc. have launched the mobile game Pokémon GO in Hindi, and plan to add more Indian languages gradually.

The Pokémon Company plans to invest ₹125 crore over five years in marketing and advertising in India.

This move is part of the companies' wider ambitions to engage with Indian audiences, given Hindi’s position as the sixth largest language in Asia.

India represents a massive opportunity for the companies with its strong gaming culture and over 500 million smartphones.

The game’s pricing and purchasing options are being adapted to suit the Indian market, including in-app purchase bundles and a wider range of payment options via a web store.

Niantic is planning to implement extended reality and metaverse technologies to improve interactivity in the game.
