Russia confirms Wagner chief Prigozhin has died in plane crash

Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner mercenary group, was confirmed by genetic tests to have died in a plane crash last Wednesday

The crash occurred in the Tver region northwest of Moscow and claimed the lives of 10 people, including Prigozhin.

Russia's aviation agency had previously released the names of those on the private jet's flight manifest.

The identities of all 10 deceased individuals were established through molecular-genetic examinations conducted as part of the crash investigation.

The crash happened exactly two months after Prigozhin led an unsuccessful mutiny against Russia's army leadership.

President Putin extended his condolences to the families of the crash victims as confirmed by the aviation agency.
