Sensex Crashes Today: Tumbles More Than 1500 Points During the Day

Gold, considered a safe haven, hit $2,000 per ounce mark for the first time since August 2020.

The BSE Sensex was closed below 53,000 mark, touched day's low at 52,450.28 at 14:20.

Not just crude, aluminium, copper, palm oil and wheat prices have hit record highs globally.

Among Sensex stocks, Bajaj Finance tanked 6.02% per cent to Rs 6,144.

Maruti Suzuki declined 6.50 per cent to Rs 6775.95.

The ongoing war in Europe and tough sanctions on Russia has put heavy pressure on supply-demand dynamics of most commodities.
