A trial in the case had been scheduled to begin Jan. 17.
Hall and Butler used the phrases "playas, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate" in their song "Playas Gon' Play."
Released in 2001, the song by R&B group 3LW debuted on the Billboard Hot 100.
In August, Swift said in court that prior to writing Shake It Off, she had never heard the song by 3LW.
