US actress Raquel Welch dies at the age of 82

Modern action heroines in Hollywood movies are sometimes regarded with having been pioneered by US actress Raquel Welch.

After a brief illness, the Hollywood diva died away peacefully on Wednesday morning, according to her manager.

For her role as a bikini-clad cavewoman in the 1966 movie One Million Years BC, Welch is well-known.

She was also awarded a Golden Globe for The Three Musketeers in 1974.

Welch, who was born Jo Raquel Tejada in 1940, grew up in California and excelled in teen pageants there.
