Vijay Diwas 2021 marks 50 years of India's victory against Pakistan in 1971 war

Every year on December 16, India commemorates its victory over Pakistan during the 1971 war with Vijay Diwas.

This war led to the creation of Bangladesh during the tenure of Smt. Indira Gandhi

The 1971 war was a result of the Pakistan military's ill-treatment of the Bengali-speaking majority in East Pakistan

On December 3, 1971, Pakistan started pre-emptive bombings on Indian Air Force stations, starting the war.
