World Athletics Championship: Neeraj Chopra wins gold medal
Neeraj Chopra made history by winning the World Athletics Championships gold medal in the men's javelin throw final in Budapest.
Chopra's victory marked his first gold at the World Championships and a significant improvement from his silver medal in the 2022 edition of the event.
Despite a shaky start and a throw of 79m in the final, Chopra's second attempt propelled him to victory.
Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan secured second place with a distance of 87.82m, and Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic took the bronze with 86.67m.
Other Indian javelin throwers, Kishore Jena and DP Manu, performed well but missed podium spots.
Chopra's qualification for the final was swift, requiring just one throw where he registered a remarkable distance of 88.77m.
