That social media is being used for false propaganda is no secret. That you can spread a lot of lies and rumors is no secret either. However, you can’t always get away with it. Here’s a classic example. On Sunday, Wikileaks said:
Narenda Modi’s #BJP has been pushing this fake #Modi endorsement http://t.co/kyryXQpmht – but #Assange has never said anything about #Modi
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) March 16, 2014
Modi supporters have been claiming that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange saw Modi as an “incorruptible” politician. A picture circulating on the Internet said (see below) “America is afraid of Modi because America knows that Modi is not corrupt.”– Julian Assange.
The whistleblower website said
#India: No WikiLeaks document say #Modi is 'incorruptable', rather he is popular because 'viewed' as 'incorruptable' https://t.co/leCkQ8PNSK
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) March 16, 2014
The Narenda #Modi "incorruptable" quote comes from Rajkot Congress party leader Manoharsinh Jadej: https://t.co/leCkQ8PNSK #bjp #india

In retaliation, the BJP said that it doesn’t need any endorsement from Assange.
