Online Marketplace Wooplr Raises Funding From Former Snapdeal CPO Anand Chandrasekaran

Wooplr, a fashion discovery application for women, has today raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Anand Chandrasekaran, a former chief product officer of Snapdeal. The funding raised will be used for product development and marketing, the company said.

Bangalore-based Wooplr was founded in 2013 by Praveen Rajaretnam, Arjun Zacharia, Soumen Sarkar, and Ankit Sabharwal. The platform connects people with local businesses, based on interests, location, and social circles. Users can upload details about what they bought and where they bought it from, which in turn helps their community friends to discover places and shop from there.

The company claims to have 3 million women on the platform, of which the majority are from Bangalore, New Delhi, and Mumbai, generating 200,000 posts per month.

Freshdesk Brings Private Customer Support for Businesses on Facebook

Up until now, the only way for an individual user to talk to a business on Facebook was “in public”, by posting directly on the timeline. Now users can talk to the business both in public, and go “off the air”, through messages on the same social platform. There’s no longer a need for the customer to change support channels. Freshdesk automatically converts these Facebook messages into support tickets that agents can respond to. Also, this Freshdesk integration allows businesses get all the details they need without compromising the identities of their customers.
