Xiaomi’s Rock Bottom Mi 4i Pricing Means Motorola Isn’t Making Any Money

Xiaomi’s new Mi 4i mid-range wonder is all set to go on sale on April 30 at a price of Rs 12,999, and is expected to be a blockbuster success to say the least.

The Mi 4i however has popped up on the import data lists compiled by Zauba, with information suggesting that just 150 units of the device have been shipped into the country on April 21.
The listing also reveals that the device is imported under the name Mi Redmi 4i – dual SIM, with touch and without TV function, as per the IMEI number.

The cost per unit of the device is Rs 10,569, but this might not be the true cost of the device since manufacturers often undercut their costs to make for easier taxation.
Whatever be the case, Xiaomi has kept up to its tradition of offering devices with great specs at rock bottom prices, and news of the device’s launch has already got the competition squirming.
The Moto G (second gen) which is the most popular rival of the upcoming Mi 4i is already being sold at a discounted rate of 10,999, down from its previous price of Rs 12,999.

Surprisingly, the per unit price of the Moto G listed on Zauba is Rs 10,554, which could mean that the company isn’t making much or any money off the device.
